Grand Prairie Whole-Home Water Filtration
This system treats water at the point it comes into the house, so every shower, sink and washer runs on the same filtered supply. A water test comes first, and we walk you through the readings so the equipment lines up with the problem you really have.
What a whole-home filter does, and when it's the right fix
A whole-home system sits on your main water line, usually in the garage or near the water heater. Water passes through a sediment stage and then a large tank of carbon media before it reaches any faucet. The main job is removing the chlorine or chloramine that city water carries, along with the taste and smell that come with it.
It isn't the answer to every water complaint, and we'll tell you so. White crust on fixtures points to hardness, which a water softener handles. Concerns about drinking water specifically are often better served by reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink. That's why we start with a test in your home and a plain talk about what the numbers mean.
When the test shows that treated city water is the issue, a whole-home filter is a simple, low-maintenance fix. You stop smelling chlorine in the shower, your ice tastes like water, and every tap in your home benefits at once.
What's included with your whole-home system
- In-home water test first
- We check your water at the tap before recommending anything. You see the results, and we explain which ones matter and which ones don't.
- Sediment prefilter
- A cartridge stage catches sand, grit and pipe scale before they reach the carbon. This protects the main tank and helps the media last longer.
- Carbon media sized to your home
- We size the tank to the number of bathrooms and how much water your household uses at once. Where chloramine is the concern, we use a catalytic carbon made to handle it.
- Bypass valve
- A bypass lets you send water around the system for service or filter changes without shutting off water to your whole home.
- Startup, flush and leak check
- New media is flushed until the water runs clear, then every connection is checked under pressure before we leave.
- A walk-through before we go
- We show you the bypass, the prefilter housing and what upkeep looks like, and we leave the work area clean.
Signs your home could use whole-home filtration
A bleach note in the bathroom
Steam pulls chlorine out of hot water, so a closed-up bathroom after a long shower is where many people first notice it. Filtering at the main line covers your shower too, something a faucet filter can't reach.
Tap water that tastes like a pool
If you buy bottled water because the tap tastes off, carbon filtration usually fixes the taste at every faucet, not just one.
Grit in aerators and screens
Sand or flakes collecting in faucet aerators or appliance inlet screens suggest a sediment stage would help.
Odor only from the hot side
A rotten-egg smell that shows up only in hot water usually comes from the water heater, not your supply. We'll point that out during the test instead of selling you a filter that won't fix it.
Fresh-water concerns after a move
New to your home and unsure what's coming out of the tap? A test gives you real readings to plan around.
How the work goes, from your call to clean water
- 1
A phone call to start
Tell us what you're noticing: smell, taste, spots, grit. We set a time to come test your water at your home.
- 2
Test and plain explanation
We test your water and walk through the results with you. If whole-home filtration fits, we explain the system size and media we'd use and why. If something else fits better, we say that.
- 3
Installation day
Water is shut off for a few hours while the line is cut in, the bypass and system are mounted, and fittings are made up. We protect the floor and work area while we're there.
- 4
Flush, test and hand-off
We flush the new media, check for leaks and run water through your taps. Then we show you how the bypass works and when the prefilter will need changing.

What sets the price of a whole-home filter
We quote after testing, not before, because the number comes from your house and your water. Qualifying homes get standard professional installation included. Any work past a standard install is spelled out ahead of time, so the final bill holds no surprises.
- Tank size and flow
- Three or four bathrooms call for a bigger tank, so pressure stays steady when two showers and the dishwasher are going at once.
- Carbon media choice
- Catalytic carbon, used for chloramine, is pricier than regular carbon. We suggest it only when your water needs it.
- Main line location
- A main line out in the open in the garage goes faster than one hidden behind a finished wall or running along the outside edge of the slab.
- Extra stages
- Plenty of homes do fine with just the sediment prefilter and carbon tank. Some gain from a second stage, and your test shows which group you fall in.
Whole-home filtration questions we hear often
Something not covered here? (972) 945-8548
Will a whole-home filter lower my water pressure?
A correctly sized system shouldn't cause a noticeable drop. Pressure loss usually comes from an undersized tank or a clogged prefilter. That's why we size the system to your bathrooms and household use, and show you when to change the cartridge.
Does it get rid of hard water spots?
No. Carbon removes chlorine, taste and odor, but it doesn't remove the minerals that leave white scale. If your test shows hardness is the real issue, we'll talk about water softeners instead.
Do I still need a drinking water system?
Many families are happy with whole-home carbon alone. If you want an extra step for drinking and cooking water, reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink pairs well with it, and the whole-home filter helps the reverse osmosis membrane last longer.
How much upkeep does it need?
The sediment prefilter cartridge gets swapped periodically, and the carbon media is replaced after several years depending on your water use. We'll tell you what to expect for your system at the hand-off.
Does the system need electricity?
Most carbon systems we install run on water pressure alone, with no power or drain needed. If your setup is different, we'll explain why during the quote.

Start with a test, not a guess
We'll test your water in your home, explain what we find and tell you honestly whether whole-home filtration is the right fix. If it is, you'll get a clear quote by phone.
